For decades, patients have opted for laser eye surgery. It can be a great way to achieve clear vision without relying on contact lenses or glasses. But how do you know if laser vision correction is right for you?
Whitby Family Eye Centre is a great starting point for patients who are considering laser refractive surgery. Our laser eye surgery consultations give you the chance to determine your candidacy for surgery. We talk you through your options, and answer any questions you may have.
PRK was the first type of laser eye surgery, and it’s still a relatively common procedure to this day. The surgeon uses a laser to reshape the outer layer of the cornea.
LASIK is the most popular laser eye procedure available. Rather than reshaping the cornea from the outside, the ophthalmologist creates a small flap in the outer layers of the cornea and folds it back. The surgeon then uses a laser to reshape the middle layers of the cornea. Once the ophthalmologist achieves the desired shape to correct your prescription, they replace the corneal flap.
Whitby Family Eye Care is here to help you before and after your surgery. We offer laser eye surgery consultations and we’ll check in with you a day or two after the procedure to see how you’re feeling and monitor your healing. Our staff will schedule you for a number of follow-up visits in the months after your refractive surgery to keep an eye on your progress and we’ll continue to provide you with comprehensive eye examination yearly thereafter.
Whitby Family Eye Care is at the north east corner of Thickson Rd & Hwy 2, in the KFC plaza.
