You’ve probably heard of eye diseases like glaucoma or age-related macular degeneration. You may know that these and other eye diseases can result in partial or full vision loss. But did you know that many eye diseases develop without noticeable symptoms?
Getting your eyes examined on a regular basis is crucial because it allows us to screen for any early indications of disease and monitor any changes to your vision. An eye exam could quite literally save your vision.
Although turning 40 certainly doesn’t qualify you as old (40 is the new 20, after all), it does signify a transitionary period for your eyes.
After the age of 40, your eyes start to undergo a lot of changes. This is usually around the time we see presbyopia (farsightedness associated with aging), and possibly even cataracts start to develop.
Though these changes are no cause for alarm, it’s important that you’re aware of them and understand what they might mean for your vision. Our amazing staff is happy to answer all of your questions and talk you through the current state of your eyes.
Whitby Family Eye Care is at the north east corner of Thickson Rd & Hwy 2, in the KFC plaza. Parking is conveniently located right outside the practice.
